her life promoting tolerance, human rights and inter-cultural understanding. As president and CEO of the non-profit organization, Pearl S. Buck International (PSBI), Janet Mintzer helps ensure Buck’s vision and legacy is carried through.

PSBI’s mission is to improve the quality of life and expand opportunities for children by promoting an understanding of the values and attributes of other cultures, the injustice of prejudice, and the need for humanitarianism throughout the world.

Their programs include: adoption services in China, Kazakhstan, Korea, Philippines and Vietnam; child sponsorship to expand opportunities for children and families who would otherwise be denied health care and education; and cross-cultural education programs in conjunction with the National Historic Landmark home of Pearl S. Buck.

In her tenure as president and CEO, Janet has transformed PSBI into a worldwide humanitarian organization. Her ability to negotiate with often unyielding foreign governments, as well as her keen management approach, has resulted in tremendous gains for the children and families they serve. In fact, under Janet’s leadership, PSBI has expanded its services into more countries, including several in South America.

John Stanojev with Capital Insurance and Investment Planning, LLC serves as a Rotarian with Janet and nominated her for the Champions award. “Janet’s passion and dedication to serving others has had a tremendously positive and lasting effect on the community here in Pennsylvania and across the globe,” said Stanojev. “Pearl S. Buck would certainly be proud.”
